Here you can find news about everything to do with the band.

Attention everyone and anyone, if you or anyone you know is into the music we play, and thinks he/she is worthy
of wielding the axe known as the bass guitar, please do let one of us know. Really now, no poppycockin' around here. We need
a bassist, this acoustic business...just not cutting it for us right about now. It just isn't the same without the mashing
of guitar strings with heavy distortion, and the screaming and throwing things and beating of drums violently. Yes, we need
someone, anyone, just like you reading this, to take up the bass for our sake. Thank you.

We have some sad news for all you Joshua Locke lovers..He will not be joining us to rock socks this year.
This summer he made a trip to Ontario, and has decided to remain there for the school year. However, he has agreed that whenever
he makes a trip home, he hopes to get a chance to put off a show with us, which we'd love to do, of course. So, as of now,
we are looking to recruit a bassist for this school year. If you think you'd be interested, please let us know, and we'll
see what we can do. Josh will be missed by all, seeing as he was of course the sexiest bassist we ever knew. Have a good one
Joshua buddy.

So, there's a variety show (last of the year), at IRH this Friday, not sure of the time (probably around 7pm?).
Anyway, we'll be playing there, got a new setlist up which can be found here. Hope you like the new tunes, and we look forward to seeing you there.
May 3rd,
2006
Alriiiiite, looks like we've finally started to get back into the jamming, whipping up a new batch of songs
(we took into consideration the results of the poll as well). So look out for some new stuff, and hopefully some shows being
put off! Big woot to that. Also, we have some saddening news. Usually every summer, a part of The What Fours leaves for vacation,
visiting relatives, or something like that. Last year Josh went to Ontario for the summer, and looks like he will be doing
it again this summer. But as well this summer we will lose another member, which will be the Gavster (hahah). Goudie will
be heading off to Alberta for the summer, making big bucks. We hope the guys have a sweet summer, but for now we still have
plenty of jamming to do, and shows to put off. So keep on the look out.

Whoooaaaaaa, it's been soooo long. I know it seems like The What Fours are slowly dying out or something,
but HEY that's not true. We've just been getting everything together after having a verrrrrry large amount of hockey games
on the go over the winter (yeah, all of us are on the team, and had practically every weekend booked with games), but most
of them is coming to an end now. So look for some possible shows, which will even involve Goudie's crazy keyboard skills,
(that's rite, for those of you who saw at the past show to raise money for Thomas Shepphard, Gavin busted out his keyboard
debut with the Panic! song. (Check out the setlist for that show here). Well, that's all for now, we hope to have a show coming your way sometime soon, so get ready for that.

Holy craaaaaaaap, can you believe a year has gone by already, and also that we're too damn lazy to ever write
in here?! First off, a quick Happy Holidays to everyone, hope Mr. (and Mrs.) Claus were good to you, and that new years was
as well, hehe. Let's see, so much to update around here. Well the dome show went off alrite despite the shitty weather that
nite, we thank everyone who showed up despite the bad weather and freezingness inside that place, it was a good time, what
with the random power trips and everything haha. And oh yes, the after party was quite nice, haha good times. Anyway,
on to the new year. We hope there will be some more shows on the rise with this new year, and if not, we hope to bring more
to you. After seeing that even a small short of notice show put off up in South Brook attracted a few fans, hopefully a more
organized show here in Springdale will attract even more. We'll keep you filled in on that, but look out for a show or two
sometime in early '06. Hmm...what else...There's much to be updated around this site. And we'd like to apologize for not getting
those new shirts in, we love to procrastinate, and for that we are sorry. But we promise they will be done sometime, hopefully
in the very near future, so don't lose faith in us yet, lol. Anyway, welcome to the new year, and keep an eye out for The
What Fours ripping up 2006, hahah.
November
30th, 2005
Okaaaaay, so we're pleased to announced that it appears the show will indeed go ahead at the dome in South
Brook. The insanity will take place Friday night, with doors opening at 7:30. Cover charge will be $3. The show will feature
us headlining, with a couple opening acts. Be there. Also, Christmas is now just 25 days away. Christmas rules.
November
29th, 2005
Alrite, so it looks like we've finally got a show lined up after the long waiting period which consisted of
some jamming, looking into different locations for shows, dates etc. As of now, it looks as though we will playing at the
fabulous Dome stadium in South Brook. This party will be kickin' off sometime Friday night (time undecided as of yet, check
back for updates), and will have a cover charge of $2-3$ (also undecided, the cost of rent and stuff has to be looked into).
Come out and have a good time with us and everyone who shows up. We believe that there will also be an opening act consisting
of some acoustic stuff. If everything goes as planned, it'll sure be a night to remember. Hope to see you all there, and check
back for updates on that. Also, Christmas is now only 26 days away. That is awesome. Oh and yes, the man who goes
by the name Joe Pelley is now jamming with us from time to time (helping out with his mad guitar skills), that is
awesome too. Well, that's all for now, until next time.
November
1st, 2005
Ok, so here's the deal, we haven't really been doing much in our absence, haha. Well, not entirely true i
guess, we've focused a bit on trying to write our own music, (new lyrics posted for the song determination vs.
the opposition which we hope to have music to soon). Hmm, what else. Ah, yesterday was Hallowe'en, hope everyone
got all the treats they desired, i know i sure did, hah good times. Anyway, that's a basic outlook on what we've been up to.
We're hoping to get some more originals (different from the old fight for the free, more heavy, and with some screaming).
Keep checking back for info on that. Oh and as well, we're still hoping for that show in the really near future, and the new
shirts are about to be ordered so that we should have them in before Christmas (they'd make a great gift for that special
someone, haha).
October
16th, 2005
Alritey then, 9 days ago on the 7th of October, was officially The What Fours 1-year birthday! That means
so far we've rocked some socks for over a year now! Hopefully we'll be able to keep doing this thing for as long as we can,
and keep enjoying it as well as we do now. Thanks go out to everyone who's supported us thus far, and will hopefully continue
to support us. Also, we know we've talked much about possible shows, but it looks like we may have one coming your way sometime
in early November. We're hopin' to look into getting a location booked and probably renting some equipment. We'll have to
check the costs of all this shit and everything, so we'll let ya know whatever we can as soon as possible. And another thing,
be on the lookout for the new t-shirts in the near future!
P.S. Sonic the Hedgehog rules
September
28th, 2005
Well, five days ago was Goudie's birthday, which means he now hit the sweet sixteen milestone as well, haha.
We've both got our vehicle beginner's now as well, so 8 months from now hopefully we'll be on the lookout for a band-van,
hahaha. Anywho, last nite a Terry Fox show was put off, (Thanks to S-Bu for that), and it went over quite well. We'd like
to thank everyone who showed up to support the cause, and of course the performers for some good entertainment and good times.
Hmm...what else, we're planning on getting a football team on the go if anyone wants to challenge us, haha (but i warn you,
Josh is the meanest tackle ever). But i guess in more important band news, considering the back to school show has not yet
gone ahead (been busy learning enough new material, and also equipment problems), we're thinking we will either throw a Halloween
show, or maybe birthday show for us! That's rite, The What Fours will officially be a year old on October 7th, so who knows,
maybe we'll throw a show then to celebrate that. Either way, be on the lookout for a show sometime in October. I guess that's
all for now, until next time.

Heyooooo, it's my birthday today! The big 16! - Jason
Oh, and in other
news, there's apparently a variety show Tuesday, Sept. 27th, @ 7pm. We're guessing it's at the high school as always.
Be sure to come check out some of the vast talent our school always has to offer, hahaha.
August
23rd, 2005
It seems yet another summer has nearly gone and past, which means only one thing, the dreadful start of another
school year. But hey, why not start this school year with a bang? Can you say "The What Fours Back to School Bash?" Hahaha,
that's right, we're planning on maybe throwing together a back to school show, featuring us, and whatever other local bands
we can round up. If you think this is a good idea, let us know.
August
4th, 2005
Well, what's there to write about here....Other than the fact that today is Alex's birthday!! Wooooooo, lol
the big 15. Oh, and also that we have a show Monday nite at IRH in support of the U-16 soccer trip to Labrador. Be there or
be square. Cover charge is $3.00, as for time it starts, not sure, 7:30 maybe? There's hope that this show will consist of
more than just bands, who knows, maybe even some magic tricks!
July
25th, 2005
Well, well, well....The What Fours have another temporary member, lol. Due to Josh's departure to Ontario,
we were left bassless for the summer. We figured we had to come up with something to enable us to play shows over the summer,
so we came up with a verrrry shneaky plan. Nah, actually we had no plan, basically Chris Stuckless (Jason's best friend),
volunteered to play guitar in the band, and wanted Steve kicked out (hahaha, j/k). But, Steve let Chris take over guitar,
and decided to take up bass for the summer. And that's about how it's gonna be for the summer, so get used to it, haha.
July
21st, 2005
Alrite, as you know we now have lyrics for a new song, just need to add the music. Recording has been put
slightly on hold for several reasons (mainly Josh's leaving for Ontario for the summer), and this has affected us in regards
of what we're going to do for shows while he's gone. We've considered several options, and we'll figure something out when
the times rolls around. As far as we know, upcoming show dates include a variety show being put off by the guys under 16 soccer team
as a fundraiser, the date is unknown, but chances are we'll be there, so keep on the lookout for info. Also, we hear it's
possible that Moral Less Right could be heading out this way for a show in August. If this goes ahead, it'll be another great
rock show in Springdale for sure, and as before, we will be there to help melt some faces and rock some socks. Nothing's certain
yet, but we'll try to keep you updated as much as possible.
June
29th, 2005
We have some very important news we'd like to broadcast to all of you internet-surfers who come here from
time to time. That news is that the cover cd recording is no more!! Instead, however, The What Fours will now spend their
summer getting together and writing more originals to throw together, you guessed it, their first ever self-written demo cd!
We're guessing it will be 4-5 songs in length, all original 100% What Fours material. Keep checking back for more info
on this!
June
9th, 2005
So yesterday we decided to test out our recording setup to see how it would sound etc. We managed to work
our way through recording No Transitory, but of course with a few technical errors, lol, which we have to work back over and
fix. Anyway, whenever we get the time, we will keep recording songs until we have our full demo songlist recorded. Chances
are the CD will be complete sometime into the summer. We'll keep you updated on recording progress as well as we can. Well
that's it for now.
June
7th, 2005
Today we got to thinking, "How about we throw together a Demo CD of random songs we play, and let people get
their hands on that baby for some listening." So what we've came up with, is that we're going to record a Cover CD featuring
one song from every band we've ever covered. Also, a SPECIAL note: Steve turned 19 yesterday, and that night decided to hit
the bar for a few cold ones. A big congrats on another year of aging to him.
May 29th,
2005
First off I'm gonna say I'm dead tired, it's goin' on 1am, and I haven't had much sleep this weekend. But
that's completely irrelevant (god, that can't be spelled right), and anyway there's some upcoming shows that all you peeps
should know about. One is going down on June 10th, once again it's a variety show being put off by IRHS, and we'll be there
to try and rock your socks clean off of your feet. The other show in the future will be taking place on June 25th, for
the Springdale Day battle of the bands. Be sure to check that out. Also, don't forget about the June 11th battle of the bands
in Grand Falls, (we've yet to receive more info on this show, but once we do, we'll fill you in). Hmm...what else to say,
we're servin' up a brand new dish of intense music. The lineup includes some Alexisonfire (who will be in St. John's on the
27th of June, get your tickets now!), Thrice, and possibly some Sum 41. Check the Setlists section for more on that. Anyways, that's about all I can write for now. (Note: keep an eye out for some uploaded
audio clips being posted on the site in the near future!)
May 5th,
2005
Just recently we learned of a couple upcoming shows. One of these shows is next Tuesday (May 17th), and it's
a Battle of the Bands. It will be taking place at Indian River High and will feature other talent from here. The other show
is a big one, and we aren't yet sure if we will be playing there, but we're working on it. It will be taking place in Grand
Falls-Windsor on the Centennial Field (same field that Salmon Fest takes place on), and will go down on June 11th. We will
be making all efforts possible to make it to that show, and we'll keep you updated as we do.
April
29th, 2005
Both the Variety Show and SchoolStock 2005 went over quite well, and we had a sweet time at both events. We
will have some pics and possibly some videos from each of these performances up sometime soon. But on a different note, any
of you who attended either of those shows may have noticed an extra member on stage with us. Maybe you were thinking "What
the hell? The What Fives?" However, don't panic, that "secret" member is simply Steve. Yes, Steve Earle, the one and only. Steve
will be playing with us from now 'till the end of summer, at which time he will have to return to his usual university life
of partying and hot chicks. But while he's home with nothing to do, he will resort to jamming and playing shows with the What
Fours. Anyway, that's all for now.
April
18th, 2005
Oh my, long-time-no-write-here. Anyway, the previous post about the March 10th show is completely wrong, seeing
as that show never did go ahead, but is now re-scheduled to April 25th, which is just around the corner, so come check
it out! (The admission and everything is still the same). But on a much more important note, The What Fours are going to SchoolStock
2005! This annual event is held in Buchans and features talent from across the island. It's taking place this
year on April 28th, and we will be there to join the many other bands/solo artists. Our setlist for this show can be
seen in the Setlists section. Also, Josh has recently purchased a new digital camera and is upsessed with taking pictures, so expect many
new pics to be posted soon, lol.
March
3rd, 2005
Coming up on Thursday March 10th, Indian River High will be holding another one of its Variety Shows,
which as always have some entertaining acts, and this one actually features a couple new bands who have yet to be heard. Make
sure you come on down to the show to check out some new talent, and of course some of the good old stuff such as us and
Elixir! Admission is $3 at the door, and the show starts at 7:30 (so we think, lol, we will confirm this later).
February
4th, 2005
The second Moral Less Right rock show was awesome, another great time. We had a killer time rocking out
(Goudie moshed the shit out of everything, good stuff lol) to Elixir and MLR. We'd like to thank MLR for letting us open,
and putting on a great show, and Elixir for tearing it up as well! Also, thank you's go out to all the fans that showed
up to support the event. That's all for now, check the Pics section for a few photos from the show.
January
20th, 2005
Ok, so a date has been chosen for the upcoming MLR show. It will be taking place on the 28th of January,
just over a week away. The show will be taking place at the Manual Hall, and doors will open 7pm, with the show
starting at 8. Cost of admission will be $5 at the door. The setlist we have planned for the show can be found by
clicking here. Also, the following night Indian River High School will be hosting a variety show which the What Fours will be taking part
in.
January
8th, 2005
We've recently received info from Moral Less Right saying that they'll be hitting Springdale again in the
near future (either the end of this month, or beginning of next). This is huge news considering the last show was the kind
of rock show Springdale needs to see more often. They've asked us to join the bill once again, and more than likely so will
Elixir and possibly another band. So be sure to check back here for more updates regarding that! Also, lyrics for Seeking
Sorrow were posted today, and we are currently looking into getting some What Fours badges ordered, contact us for
info on how you can get one!
January
7th, 2005
It's been quite a while since we've wrote anything here, main reason being it's been a while since we jammed
or took part in any playing of our instrumental devices together, lol. The What Fours took a break over the X-Mas holidays
to get some serious Christmas shopping done and such. Anyway, hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Years, and look
out for us playing some new material at a show near you!
December
1st, 2004
Tired of the same old songs? No worries, we're currently learning some new material. Some of the new songs
are: AFI - Bleed Black
NOFX - Bottles To The Ground
Rancid - Bloodclot
Also, we're learning an acoustic lineup for those of you who prefer easier-listening music, haha. Our selection
for acoustic songs includes: Thrice - All That's Left (Acoustic Version)
Taking Back Sunday - Cute Without The "E" (Acoustic Version)
Rise Against - Swing Life Away
Well there ya have it, our list of songs we're currently throwin' together. Hope you like it, there will
be more new songs on the way.
November 21st,
2004
Friday, November the 19th, the What Fours took part in another IRH Variety Show. The show overall didn't
go on for very long, due to few acts, but
the band took part regardless. It turned out to be an alright night, and we'd like
to thank everyone who showed up to support us and the other acts. Also, today
lyrics we have so far for the songs Failure and Insomnia were posted.
November 4th,
2004
Yesteday we decided to replace the forum (which nobody used, probably because it was rather
pointless, haha) and add a brand spankin' new poll. Yes that's right, a poll! So get on over to that page and vote! We will
probably change the question whenever we feel like it, but for now just check it out. Also, a setlist for the upcoming IRH
Variety Show was posted today.
November 1st,
2004
Yesterday we finished writing our first song Fight for the Free. We hope to be able
to play this song live sometime in the near future (possibly the variety show coming up on the 19th), so be on the lookout
for that! Also, we currently have no t-shirts left, but we will be getting some more ordered in shortly.
October
31st, 2004
Added many new pics from the Moral Less Right Show (which was
truely awesome, our best show yet, and we'd like to thank everyone who showed up, and of course Moral Less Right and Elixir,
you guys are awesome). We'd also like to thank Steve Butt for taking the pics of us, and allowing us to use them here. Now,
in further news about the show, one word can basically sum it up....insane! We enjoyed moshing it up with many other crazy
fans while MLR were playing, and screaming our lungs out constantly. We'd like to thank Moral Less Right once more for
letting us open for them, thanks guys.
October
22nd, 2004
"Lyrics" page was added today! Check it out to see what The
What Fours have wrote so far. We hope to throw a few more songs together in hope of making a small demo cd. So be on the look
out for that!
October 19th, 2004
Everybody mark your calendars for Friday October 29th!
The What Fours biggest and best show yet will take place that Friday night (at the Springdale Curling Club, doors
open at 7pm, show starts 8pm). The great punk band from Stephenville, Moral Less Right will take the stage, joined by
Elixir and us, and rock Springdale like never before! Be sure to come check out the show to experience some awesome music
and a night full of good times! (The setlist for this show can be found in the "Setlists" section).
October 15th, 2004
On October 7th, The What Fours took part in a Variety Show
at the Indian River High School, and had a great time. We got some great compliments from our fans and would like to thank
everyone who turned out to support us and the other bands/acts that took part. We hope everyone had a great time like we did,
and don't forget to check out our next show!
